It says "do not insert in ear canal."  Does anyone on earth obey that?  What else do you DO with a Q-tip?  Is there another mainstream use for these things (they're great for gun cleaning/oiling).

I'm pretty sure it means way deep into the ear...

http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=canal

ca‧nal  /kəˈnæl/ Pronunciation Key - [kuh-nal]

3.   a tubular passage or cavity for food, air, etc., esp. in an animal or plant; a duct.

I don't see a reference to DEPTH in that definition (which I thought was quite obvious).

The true damage the government "schools" have done to people is that they search for INTENT in words and phrases instead of working from the ACTUAL definition.

Whoever came up with "don't put anything in your ear bigger than your elbow" fostered some *really* nasty ears.

It's on there because of the frequency of patients who bust their ear drum 'cleaning out' the ear canal.  You'd be surprised just how often that is.  They go digging deep thinking they're doing something, then go too deep or get their arm jostled accidentally and its 'Oops! Look who won't hear anything out of their left ear for the rest of their life...'

If letting the shower water rinse out the inside isn't cutting it, buy an OTC inner ear wax immolient.

I'm saying it should be used to clean the ears, but not the ear canal...
