For those of you with cats, what do you do with the inevitable collection of kitty litter buckets? I've used two for N-Fired brass (one for rifle, one for handgun). My kids are using a couple for small toy storage. I've accumulated 5 additional buckets. I suppose I could toss them, but they're actually well constructed buckets with snap-on lids and I hate tossing them.
Don't suggest bike panniers. (https://www.crazyguyonabike.com/doc/?doc_id=1841) I'm aware of that use, but have no use for panniers.
So, what do *you* use them for after you empty them?

Storage of large rolled up silhouette targets. However, I'm moving toward keeping them in the form of digital photographs. I also use two of them for a kind of redneck shelf stands on my balcony (temporarily). No cats, but Son1 has them, hence: source. They can also be used as emergency commodes in a SHTF situation. (With large plastic bags and the lids.)

We don't get our litter in buckets.

Container garden. Poke a hole in the bottom, stick in a tomato, hang it up. I have more than a dozen doing brass duty, I think I have too much brass.

I've been printing my targets as I need them for years. Granted, I'm limited to 8.5x11.
As for the commode, I already have a Luggable Loo (https://www.amazon.com/Reliance-Luggable-Loo-Portable-Toilet/dp/B079LXSQ1M) for deer camp. I considered the litter buckets for that if I wanted to close it up and toss the whole shebang after a trip, but haven't gotten there yet.
So far, small item storage has been my best idea. I do have a spillover tote I use for my camp kitchen gear. That tote is only half full, so it's a bit big for it's requirements. I may see if the kitchen gear will fit in the litter bucket.

I have 3 Earth Boxes for my container garden. Those three can produce more of whatever we grow in them than we can eat or give away. However, it's a good idea. I'll keep it in the back of my mind.
As for brass, I did have 4 full buckets and a partial, but I decided that was getting excessive, so I cut in half the commonly available brass and took the excess (45lbs) to Georgia Arms at the gun show this weekend. They paid me $118, which I turned into half a case of subsonic 9mm.

I thought about using them for used kitty litter storage. I might do that, but I'm not crazy about a bucket of cat crap hanging around even if it has a lid. Still, it's a useful repurposing.
I don't have a lot of 5gal buckets, but I also don't have a need for a lot of buckets in a townhouse. These do stack better than 5gal buckets it seems.

It's too much when you're not turning over your stash of unloaded brass or find factory new brass you didn't even know you had. Commonly available calibers don't need to be hoarded. Semi-rare stuff like 32swl, 32-20, and 6.5x55 get preferential treatment in the storage system.

I use them for brass. For "calibers" I shoot rarely and only in small quantities I use Burger King large-size soda cups but, for the ones I shoot a lot (.45 ACP, 9mm, .38 Super) the soda cups just don't cut it. The kitty litter pails are perfect.

They make a good bird food storage container, especially if you buy the large bags and don't wan't to keep the seed in the bag.

I get my cat littler in a bag can use it for oil dry also. If I got it in a bucket I might be tempted to put the cat in it.

Petco has refillable ones. We just bought 2 of them and I bring them in and refill them.

Hmmm, interesting on the Georgia Arms, I think that is better money than the scrap yard pays and I need to face the fact that I may never load 15 gallons of 9mm.

They don't pay much for 9mm, but if you're talking about 15 gallons, it'll add up. It can't be deprimed, cleaned, or sized though. Must be more or less as it came out of the gun.

Unless you store them in the garage, and the garage has a resident chipmunk. The little beasts gnaw right through plastic. Bird (amd grass) seed has to be stored in metal containers.

Works fine with 1 cat in the house.

I don't get it in the buckets.
They usually get the buckets for the shop litter and the buckets generally end up out at the farm and used as water buckets for the dogs.

I don't have cats, but special lady friend does.
Cut down, I've found good use for them as short containers. These are being used to hold metal cutoffs and scraps that are too short for other storage.
Otherwise, basically anything you'd use a bucket for.
Otherwise, throw them on craigslists free section, and let some random person snag them for their use.

I've got 3 of them full of low sulfur coal I use in my forge.

They are good for repackaging the ice melt or rock salt from bags to resealable buckets.
I use one for my shell boxes and empty hulls when I shoot sporting clays or skeet because square shell boxes fit better in a square bucket than a round one. For a while people thought I was a sponsored shooter-

Thanks all. It looks like we all have more or less the same ideas - Storage of small or fungible items. I was hoping for some Pinterest-level crafting. :D

That's assuming there's a market for the things. Most of the people inclined to use litter bucket panniers make their own. Most other cyclists who use racks and panniers will only accept the very best to go on their bespoke touring bikes. There aren't many people cheap enough to use litter bucket panniers but too sorry to make their own.

You must not spend much time on eBay or Etsy. Some of the crap people actually buy amazes me. I've seriously considered clearing out Dollar Tree and posting everything on eBay to see how many people will bid it up to $15-20 plus shipping.
