The amusing thing about this episode is all the commentary about freedom of speech. Granted. But the hypocricy is again laid bare for all to see. Apparently only liberals have the freedom of speech without repercussions...or so it seemed till today. Maybe the worm is finally beginning to turn.
Personally, I believe anyone should be able to say whatever is on their mind at any given moment. But sometimes there can be repercussions. One can point out using perjorative terms the charcter of one's boss. One is free to say what one will. But one may be fired as a result. A supreme court justice made an errudite comment about freedom of speech, which I paraphrase...One may say anything until one loudly proclaims a fire in a crowded building when there is no fire. One may then reap the whirlwind and justifiably so.
With Ms. Thomas, how can one apologize for remarks that so deeply describe long held biases. She is a bigot of the highest order....and probably we all are in some way. But, still, observed consequences certainly temper our muse, and for the better I think.
