Just hope the guy doesn't lose his job over this.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A convenience store clerk shot a gunman Monday afternoon in Kansas City, and the gunman died at a hospital, according to Kansas City police.

The man asked the clerk for some cigarettes inside Tony's Market at East 27th Street and Prospect Avenue, then he pulled a gun, according to police.

When the clerk spotted it, he pulled his own gun and shot the man, according to police.

Emergency crews rushed the man, who was in his late teens or early 20s, to a hospital, where he died.

"You have every right to protect yourself, other customers in the store and also your property, and unfortunately, this individual, if it was an attempted robbery, unfortunately he ran up against the wrong person," said Officer Darin Snapp, of the Kansas City Police Department.

What we have here is a failure of the victim selection process.

Actually, it doesn't sound the least bit unfortunate to me.
