Yes and no. They often have free shipping on orders over $49 and .01 hazmat charges if you watch for it.

Sorry, I never got involved in hazmat shipping; most of what I need is available locally.  So, dumb me, what's that mean?  One percent of the retail value?  Seems kind of odd they'd base hazardous material  charges on price rather than some weight/volume/danger parameters.

= dumb me, and I'll probably smite my forehead when I find out.

1 cent hazmat fee for ammo, powder, primers, some paints, etc.

Usual hazmat fees are around $30.

It is just a discount to try to increase sales.  Nothing wierd about it.

Some places have a flat hazmat fee up to a certain weight.  I used to bundle my orders with other people to save money on the hazmat fee.
