Gee....thanks Dad....but can I get them for less than a grand?....

The new Colt Deltas are less than a grand.  I think I saw $980.  Granted, it's not much less but still...

This one took over a month to sell.  I wanted it, but it was outside my budget, and until I start rolling my own, .38 super just isn't that common of a round.

.....
Uncle Sam had no intentions whatsoever of buying Colt 1991 series guns for Desert Shield/Desert Storm.  The DoD was already well underway with issuing Beretta M9s to us "lucky" GIs by then, a process that had begun in January of 1985.  If 1911s were required by folks like Spec Ops, they simply requisitioned the folks in depot level storage to pull older 1911A1s back into the fray.
This is so true. My unit still hadn't taken the M9 plunge when Desert Shield started, we still had our 1911's. It wasn't until well after Desert Storm that we were finally issued those (JMO) M9 paperweights. On a side note we still had M16A1's also......
I have a Kimber TLE II, that I love.  I like the 1911 platform mainly because it is a single stack and very slim.

There's really only one good answer.  Buy several models of various sizes and configurations.  Let her carry the one she wants. Keep the rest for yourself.

So, what will .357SIG get you that 9mm+P+ won't?

A SAAMI specification. :)

The 9x25 Dillon was but a flash in the pan, even in IPSC circles.

I just tossed it out there for the fans of turbo-charged 9mm cartridges.  I don't think I have actually ever seen one in the flesh.

Practically, I doubt any of the 9mm self-defense projectiles could take advantage of 9x25 velocity without flying apart after a couple inches of penetration into a flesh & bone target.

Couldn't you just use a HP made for hot .357 loads?

No.  9mm (.355) and 357 (.358?) are not the same diameter bullets.

My roommate has one.  It's kinda cool.  More a novelty than anything but still pretty cool.
