I've been spending too much time thinking about this. I agree wholeheartedly that a remake is a horrific idea, and cultural cannibalism is far too endemic already.

That said, finding an actor capable of the simultaneous gravitas and latent menace of Brando is a really fascinating challenge. I submit for your consideration an unconventional notion inspired  by Monkeyleg's post above.

Robert Duvall.

Discuss.

The #1 reason why it will probably be done.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen.

Danny Aiello?  Does he have the ability and prescence, is that part forever Marlon Brando's?
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

I hope so. Remaking it would be like remaking "The Wizard of Oz".

Ahhhh, Mila Kunis

Still, no for her for playing Dorothy, or for a remake of WOZ.
