Good sitcom character actress. (Laura Petrie, Mary Richards.) Had a number of movie roles, too.

Off screen, not a crazy like Streisand or Madonna, but a little out there politically - IIRC, she was an animal rights fanatic.

Still, one of the talented "old timers" with talent well beyond most of today's sitcom actresses.

She had a good run, especially living with diabetes. I always liked her. :(

Actually her and Ed Asner had a falling out I believe since he was so far left and she had moved to the right.
