"The chances of finding out what's really going on are so remote, the only thing to do is hang the sense of it and keep yourself occupied. One of them will be keeping the gun(s) at my place, but the other one I will not be able to introduce to shooting on gun appreciation day, as I had hoped.
"...first-time gun buyers now making up a quarter of all sales..."The article buries this explosive quote. A 25% growth rate is mind blowing. I mean, this is historic... real history book stuff.http://www.startribune.com/local/187554781.html?refer=y&refer=y(via instapundit)
Where do they get that figure? They must be looking at states that require ownership permits. Or maybe they're counting first-time CCWs as first-time gun buyers.
It would be mind-blowing, if it were true. 25% of recent sales being to first-time gun owners does not correlate to gun ownership rising by 25%Easy example: there are 10 gun owners. 3 of them went and bought a new gun last month. Also, one person who never owned a gun bought one. 25% of sales were to first-time gun owners, and now there are 11 instead of 12

Another Sheriff speaks out against gun control.http://www.jocosheriff.org/index.aspx?page=36&recordid=93&returnURL=%2findex.aspxIt's very uplifting to me to see so many Sheriffs make a stand against enforcing gun control laws. I can't remember any past gun control pushes that had so many LEOs at the Sheriff level (versus deputies, beat cops, etc) speaking out against gun control. Apparently whatever the national Sheriffs association is called is in favor of most of Obama's gun control measures, so it does my heart good to see so many of these elected Law Enforcement officials countering that and speaking out.
Yeah, it's good to hear but I can't help but remember that the LEO associations in Montana successfully lobbied our recent former governor (who shall not be named ) into vetoing our "constitutional carry" law after the legislature adjourned. Crime and politics: the situation is always fluid.
they are PISSED. Not at me/us but the lying liars in the Executive branch and Media.
Pro-gun article by a left-winger. Note that it was written pre-Sandy Hook. I didn't read down into the comments to see what his reaction was to Obama going for a gun grab. Other than the pre-second term sticking up for Obama, I was pleasantly surprised to see him give a logical argument against an AWB.http://kontradictions.wordpress.com/2012/08/09/why-not-renew-the-assault-weapons-ban-well-ill-tell-you/
automatic weapons (those that fire more than one bullet with each pull of the trigger) are already illegal for the average citizen to own. They are heavily regulated by the federal government, registered with the ATF and very difficult to obtain licenses for.
