Back before Google Maps was a thing I would spend hours poring over my giant stack of DeLorme Atlas and Gazetteers. Now it's Google Maps satellite view. I especially like the Street View and will spend entire afternoons touring places via Street View. I also enjoy driving. A lot. When SWMBO and I travel, the drive isn't just something required to get there. It's part of the trip.

Combine these two interests and you get Roads I've Never Driven But Want To Based Purely On Google Maps Street View. The discovery of a new road today prompted this post, so I figured we might as well see who else has similar places. I'm including Google Maps coordinates for route end markers.

US191 between Three Way, AZ, and Alpine, AZ (32.94837290888748, -109.22989456064442 to 33.84845604303938, -109.14649987660367)

Colorado SH141 between Naturita, CO, and Whitewater, CO (38.21746782184642, -108.57158982177411 to 38.98504009873057, -108.44459680259035)

New Hampshire SH112 between Conway, NH, and Lincoln, NH (43.978301083176554, -71.13358811590234 to 44.032409187333286, -71.68088016177268)

Why do I want to drive them? I dunno, they just look interesting.

On that very first Arizona link.  I drove through Safford and a spot shown as Top-of-the-World to the West of there.  Lots of small mountains and canyons through there.  I don't remember exactly where it was, but there were several miles of canyon the road did a downhill through that was a lot of fun.  Not sure it is worth the long drive to get there, but there might be more to see.
Google maps routed me that way instead of I-10 through Tucson.

The first couple of minutes of this video shows a bit of the downhill canyon run at Top-of-the-World Arizona.  There are probably better canyon drives, but it was a highlight of a long drive.

New Hampshire SH112 between Conway, NH, and Lincoln, NH

I've been on this route twice, once when I was six, and once when myself and another Guardsman had to go from Manchester to some God-forsaken 88M armory in Conway. Also known as the Kancamagus Highway, it's worth the trip.

Yep, the Kanc (rhymes with bank).  I've driven it a bunch.  It is a fun road, but the speed limit is low and the traffic can be high, especially in tourist season.

Check out 89A between Prescott Valley and Cottonwood, AZ.  That is a fun road.

If you get up toward ID/OR/WA after you stop in to see Ben and Steve take a ride to Hells Canyon.

https://www.motorcycleclassics.com/classic-motorcycle-touring/hells-canyon-national-recreation-area-zmkz17jfzhur/

Also while in the area ride US 12 to/from Missoula/Idaho over LoLo pass.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U.S._Route_12_in_Idaho

At the summit going from Montana to Idaho.

For an exciting yet very short ride, make sure to go both ways, ride the Old Spiral Highway, aka Lewiston grade. Make sure it is the ole route. Watch out for skateboarders!

Highway 191 N in Arizona up to the Mogollon rim is an awesome ride.  We’d drive up ther all the time from Sierra Vista, Az for Elk and Turkey hunting.  Also did a lot of trout fishing near Alpine at Big Lake and streams in the Apache Sitgraves National Forest.

We called that route from Morenci to Alpine the Devils Highway.  Not easy on the stomach for the passengers and takes forever when pulling an RV up.  When it says 5 MPH on a curve, you best do it.

We started using Hwy 78 to Hwy 180 in NM to get up there after my wife threatened my life the last time we drove 191 N….lol

Been on both those, and they are cool. Also if you're in the Panhandle anyway, a little farther North you can take US 2 from Bonner's Ferry to Kalispell. Then of course while in Kalispell, you might as well take Going to the Sun Road through Glacier.  =)

191 looks fun.

90 miles from Morenci to Alpine via 191.  Google says 2.5 hours to drive that!
I bet I could do it in 1.5 hours if I have a clear road.

South Dakota Hwy 87.  I don't remember the other roads that form the loop, or for sure that there is a loop but I think so.

Quick revisit because we drove the route during our 2023 Colorado vacay. Expectations exceeded in every way.

I'm new to this thread but any road that looks like this is going to be fun.

Even if it were local to me I am not sure I would ride that road, too many squids doing squid stuff. Plenty of other roads that are just as good if not better.

Most "famous" close to me is the Arkansas Pig Trail - https://www.ozarkrides.com/pig%20trail.htm

But there are thousands of miles of great roads around my area that aren't famous and just as fun to ride with out all the idiots trying to play Isle of Mann TT.

I've driven it once.  It was in a car, and believe it or not it was an unplanned visit.  You may be right about the hesitancy.  They have photographers at several corners so you can get pictures of yourself going fast.  You can also see scratches in the pavement from hardware dragging.  Still, an amazing strecth of tight turns.

For short thrills, the Moki Dugway.
They blasted it out for uranium trucks, IIRC.
