Antique tanks driven by 3rd world illiterates. What the worst that could happen?

The IDF still had significant numbers of German and Czech K98k rifles in stock during the 6 Days War. I don't believe that many saw front-line service (perhaps most as sniping rifles), but they were used heavily by rear echelon and services troops. The same with the Yom Kippur War in 1973. I don't believe that the IDF got rid of their last Nazi-era weapons until sometime in the late 1970s.

How about Israeli Bf-109s (Czech Avia S-199) escorting B-17s against Spitfires.

I don't know. How about it?
As far as I know the Israelis only ever had a handful of B-17s, but I don't know their operational history. What can you share?
The IDAF, or whatever it's called, also operated Spitfires, as did Egypt and Syria, so I'm betting that could make for some interesting IFF issues.

Something I came across many many year ago, wish I could remember where, sorry. But, yeah, that had to make for some interesting IFF issues.

Oh! Well hell, the caption on the very first picture in that article?
"Two Israeli Spitfires escort a B-17 of 69 Squadron on a bombing mission against Egyptian forces late in 1948."
Interesting!

Yeah, but I remember reading somewhere about Israeli 109s escorting B-17s and how ironic it was.

They used their B-17s in the Suez crisis too
