The Lesser of Two Evils
« on: November 06, 2012, 08:59:25 AM »
Michael Knox Beran has an article in National Review, the November 12 Special Election Issue.  Mr. Beran's article hits the nail on the head regarding this common practice of bemoaning the fact that our choices seem to always be limited to voting for the lesser of two evils among other things.  Quite enlightening.

If you don't subscribe to National Review, you will have to pay 25 cents to read the article.  Very odd thing.  Can't cut and paste it either or share it on youtube.

There is only one evil, and that is handing over so much power to people with whom we have, really, no existential connection.

Yea, but good luck voting for someone that isn't on the ballot as a politician.

I think of evil as being primarily, although not exclusively, religious in nature.

"The lesser of two evils" has a  nifty ring to it, it is rarely accurate.

The current presidential race I see as not really between two evils, but between one candidate whom I intensely dislike whose victory I really fear and the other who is not quite what I wish for who may back some policies that I am quite against, but who might be quite beneficial to the economy.

I do not think the contest is between two evils. I see no benefit to talking as if if it is.
