Not that infowars is to be held out as a good example, but he won't be the last. Now that apple, bookface, spotify, youtube, etc have all given him the boot (on the same day, can't be a coincidence), where do you think this is going to go? There is some talk of regulating them as utilities? I don't like that.
-
Not a fan of InfoWars or AJ, but I have a strong distaste for censorship. Having said that, those platforms are private entities and can do what they wish.
It's easy enough not to use Chrome or Google. I know nothing or Spotify or the others besides Youtube and Facebook. And if there were viable alternatives, I would use them.
But what bugs me the most is it seems to be CNN that lead the charge to censor him/them.* Karma is going to be a real MF'er...

(And if this does end up in court, which it probably will, I have no doubt that old adage of "Bad Cases make Bad Case Law" will hold true...

Maybe he could move his content to Pornhub? I think InRange and some other firearm content creators might of, I know it was talked about doing that.

AT&T (the original AT&T), Consolidated Edison, and all the other public utility companies around the country are private entities, but they are subject to varying degrees of regulation as so-called "public utilities." It's good to be in favor of unrestricted private enterprise as long as there's healthy competition among the private enterprises, but when a private enterprise gets so big and so ubiquitous that there is no effective competition, then I begin to see some rationale in imposing some regulation.

Including baking cakes?
Some may say that political persuasion is not a "protected" class, and that is true, but some Twitter stuff directly addresses race, such as the New York Times editorial woman. When a black conservative woman substituted "black" for "white" in that NYT person's quotes, the conservative commentator was banned. Certainly race was an issue, and race is a "protected" class.

As one of the commenters said, "...if these people make me defend Alex Jones..."
CNN is even harassing Google and Apple to remove the Infowars app.

Also we have Senator Chris Murphy saying we need to do more censoring (of sites he disapproves of). Very slippery slope. When will Daily Kos, Vox, Young Turks, etc. be censored? They need to go too, yeah?
-
He is really hard to listen to so I never have.
From what I’ve read he streams off his website so if you want to see his show you can go to the source.
The left/deep state is in panic mode.
They are going full Soviet Union on the non establishment right.

If Chris Murphy is for it, sane people should be against it.

I REALLY don't think CNN should want to open the can of worms they are trying to pry open.

Just ... WOW!

According to Chris Murphy, people are too dumb to think for themselves and therefore censorship [of any information he doesn't agree with] is necessary for the survival of our democracy.
Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., is calling on other tech companies to ban more sites like InfoWars, and says the survival of American democracy depends on it.
“Infowars is the tip of a giant iceberg of hate and lies that uses sites like Facebook and YouTube to tear our nation apart. These companies must do more than take down one website. The survival of our democracy depends on it,” Murphy tweeted Monday.
Pot calling the kettle black, IMHO. Chris Murphy's entire political career is based on lies about guns and the Second Amendment. Without lies, he would never have been elected.

Interesting that he's using the "private companies can do what they want" line that is generally libertarian/conservative. If they banned The Daily Beast I'm guessing he'd be going for, "We can't let private corporations run amok! Equal rights! Diversity! Resistance!"

The Democrats - 7 Aug., 2018, 10.01 am: "And we demand that Yootoob shut down speech we disagree with!"

I heard some discussion the other day about this. If someone wanted to set up a youtube alternative, giving people like Alex Jones uncensored access would help get them off the ground and get viewers. That may already be happening, I havent heard. I know there are several youtube alternatives out there already.
-
At least, up to a couple years ago, YouTube wasn’t even profitable.
In fact I'm not sure Twitter is profitable.

Here's a doozy of a quote, “False speech does not serve the public interest the way that true speech does,” the scholars wrote. “And indeed, there is no constitutional value in false statements of fact.”

Bears repeating from the straw ban debacle, Councilmember Jason Dominguez countered that “we can’t always count on common sense,” adding, “We have to regulate every aspect of people’s lives.”

Info Wars and Alex Jones never bothered or offended me one bit. I sampled his offerings and found them to be wacky and paid no more attention to him, period. What is wrong with the stultification of Free Speech is the commie pinko notion that everyone needs to be taken in hand by the proper authorities or they might actually become accustomed to self moderation. We can't have that. We need to be under control.
-
Heard an interesting argument today. Facepalmbook, twitter, etc, are essentially a privately owned public platform. By removing content they have become a publisher, and as such can be held responsible for libel and defamation.
-
Facebook, Apple, Google and Spotify banned him, headline reads F.A.G.S ban Alex Jones!

This. If you don't like something, every radio has the ability to receive other stations, AM and FM, and some even other bands.
Plenty of choices out there!

I love those type of quotes. Just what sort of "democracy" does he think we have? Apparently he thinks everyone would agree with him if they were just not confused by all that bad information and incorrect opinions. I guess he thinks we should become a Democratic Dictatorship.

Agree with all of the above. I found him wacky and never bothered with him again.

That's why I hate that phrase "Our Democracy". We are NOT a democracy. We are a Federal Republic. Democracy is mob rule. Which is EXACTLY what the left wants. Their Mob ruling.

I thought this particular cry for "more moderation and more banning" was rather ironic. I'm curious as to how old this guy is. I'm guessing young, because in the 80s-90s it was all about Usenet and "no moderation" being the "truth to power" (as the kids say these days) of the Internet. Really in the early days of Usenet, before the Internet.
In 30 years of Internet evolution we have gone from total, no holds barred freedom of expression to demands for fascist moderation of all discussions.

"Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?"
Source for the Murphy quote? (Not the Becket quote.)
That's a pretty damning utterance if Murphy actually said it. I understand Comey said that in reference to President Trump, and while it is merely rhetoric, one must look at its background.
It is attributed to Henry II of England, which led to the death of Thomas Becket, the Archbishop of Canterbury, in 1170. While it was not expressed as an order, it caused four knights to travel from Normandy to Canterbury, where they killed Becket.
See also https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Becket_(1964_film) for the local flavor and a discussion of its historical accuracy.

(Transcribed from feakazoid's image source) All it would take to shut down online censorship is a halfway-decent lawyer arguing that these left-wing Big Tech companies are literally violating the Constitution.
Lotsa luck with that. All these things are subject to subjective definitions. To a genuine Leftie, his (and his lawyer's) opinions are all mainstream and his struggle is against the suppressive might of the right wing agents of censorship and propaganda.
Go ahead, "prove" otherwise with your lawyer.
(Be nice if feakazoid could provide a quotable text copy of that article instead of an image.)

i was being sarcastic, murphy and some other lady legisllegitive creature said "we need to silence alex jones/alt right" I can't recall who she was or exactly what verbatim - but that was the gist of it.
two or three days later alex got banned

Oh, it was CNN that lead the charge to get Inforwars and AJ deplatformed. (Again, obligatory "I don't listen to, read, and/or watch AJ/Infowars, but I will defend to the death their right to speak in the public square". statement)

I'm pretty sure that underlying all this is the thought that if it came right down to a bangy war, they'd find plenty of banging assistance from other lefty-left wing countries just itching to "help out."
Like France helping the Colonies during our Revolutionary War.
Woe to you who think the anti-gun/anti-2A movement is purely a domestic issue.
