Was Hugh Jackman's character actually using an 1895 Winchester lever action in part of Australia or not?

I saw tantalizing glimpses of what appeared to be an 1895.

Yes.  One is used to kill a kangaroo on the run.

Saw the movie with SWMBO.

Australia is a three hour "meh." IMO.  Beats digging ditches & self-flagellation, though.

My dad bought a new '71 Torino GT w/ 351 Windsor, front bench seat, automatic on the column.  No biggie, I just considered it another old person's car.  My mom's '69 Impala Custom Coupe w/ 350 4bbl was much spicier, if a bit bigger.

Saw Gran Torino the other day.

Really good flick.  Maybe not "Unforgiven" level good, but still better than 90% of hte crap out there.

Someone described it as "Deathwish" with Clint.  I disagree.  I think it is closer to a wiser, retired Dirty Harry.

Anyway, well worth the price of admission.  Beats Australia all to hades.

That was me.  That's how they "hyped" it, and I saw it tonight with my wife.  I'm glad I was wrong; I really enjoyed it.  She cried at the end.

This is the first time in about 10 years I paid full price to see a movie and felt I got my money's worth.

So Gran Torino is good?  Try not to spoils it plox, still not playing here.

I saw a trailer for an interesting move on Hulu earlier, played before my feature.  Liam Neeson (I think that's him) in a movie called Taken.

Yes, go see Gran Torino.

As an added bonus, they blame it all on the Lutherans.

Another one to see is "Seven Pounds.". Will Smith does a fantastic job.

What the hell is that movie about anyway? The commercials are really confusing.

Gran Torino wasn't bad.  It's not Dirty Harry, but it does have decent weaponry.  If you want a mental preview, imagine a retired Mike Irwin living next to Hmong in a neighborhood falling victim to gang problems.  With a nice car.

That's a lot of suspended disbelief there, Rev.....

BTW, my wife & I are going to the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin this weekend, and we're trying to decide b/t Gran Torino and Defiance.  B/t the two, which is a better movie to see with the wife?....

You're right it's suspended belief.
