Jose Whales was the Mexican whale hunter cousin of Josey Wales. 'que ella sopla' was his battlecry.

Okay, poor spelling on my part.
I was thinking of the scene at the river ferry. The old woman at the general store. She said "doodley squat" at about 1:49.

Not that Hollywood writers are the language experts.

I've always heard "diddly squat" and "jack sh!t." But that's just me in Ohio.
-
Where I grew up in CA, it was Diddly squat, though we usually said, "Jack Diddly".

Here in Seattle, we always said 'Diddly'. Same as Ned Flanders. Matt Groening, the creator of 'The Simpsons', grew up in Oregon, so I am guessing he carried on the Pacific NW way.

Done.

I just call everything coke.

Nothin. Nada. Zip. Zilch. Goose egg. Bupkis.
Also, Eric Swalwell's poll numbers.

What is it?
It's alive, afraid, a lie, a sin
It's magic, it's tragic, it's a loss, it's a win
It's dark, it's moist, it's a bitter pain
It's sad it happened and it's a shame

You want it all but you can't have it ...
If I'm remembering correctly there was a decent War Pigs cover on that CD also.
The question "What is it?" will always chain reference to that song in my brain.
