If you haven't already seen it at THR, check out this article. http://www.inthesetimes.com/article/3340/

The site is a good idea but some moderation is in order. While I personally have no problem with any of the pics or nicknames, it might be a good idea to put one's best foot forward, instead of just any foot. For example:

1) pictures containing light and heavy machineguns (and a cannon!) might scare more than convince. The point is not to show off the newest toy but to show the human face of the gun community

2) nicknames like the "Normanator", "Say Uncle", "Weerd World Aaargh", "Random Nuclear Strikes", etc. are funny to us but NOT to the intended audience

The above highlights one of the inherent uphill features of the struggle for gun rights - most gunnies are not politically savvy, whereas the antis crowd have on their side most of the media, i.e. professional propagandists. We gotta get smarter...

Cannoneer: all excellent points.

All valid points, but frankly, I'm tired of watering down who we are to avoid scaring people.  Maybe I'm just in a foul mood today, but I like guns, fast cars, explosives, and cigars.  Oooooo I'm scary.

People who are afraid to exercise our civil rights don't still have them.

There's "Civil Rights" and then there's "tact".

Strings is there.  Looks like Tamara and XavierBreath, too.

I knew you would say that again.   rolleyes   We won't have any civil rights, if we harm our own cause.

Ok, maybe having the Bren at my feet WAS a bit over the top. But that's kinda the way I understood the site: a bit over the top...

And for the record, that's my roomy's demilled Bren...

I don't see anything their that looks the least bit over the top. As a matter of fact it looks very sedate to me. As for the cannon. It looks like a civil war uniform on the guy. Must be an actor.
