Two brothers intercept a catalytic converter theft at gunpoint.  They put the gun away and grabbed a jack handle while awaiting the police.  The miscreant gave both brothers a good stabbing before attempting to flee.  A whack or two with the jack handle slowed him down.  The moral of the story is to not put away the gun while awaiting the police.

Unscrupulous scrap yards.

Depends on the car they come from, size and a few other things. From what I understand diesel CATS and DPFs are worth a pretty penny or  up to 50000 pretty pennies. I imagine tweakers and thiefs don't care as long as they get 20 bucks or so.

Nothing suspicious about someone showing up with a trunk full of catalytic converters. Nope, nothing at all. We've give you $50 for the whole lot.

Looks like my info for diesel parts is outdated. I need to be looking for small GM Cats now. :)

Thefts of them are way, way up where I live.  Just recently a bunch of fleet vehicles got hit at the community college.
