Windows Settings Folder
« on: August 15, 2015, 09:56:36 AM »
I like to read Kim Komando's Q&A on Saturday mornings. This morning I saw something I'd never heard of before: A folder that puts all your settings in one place. I have not tried creating it yet. I was wondering if any of you have heard of it before or use it.

Q. In Windows 7, I was able to create a folder that gave me access to every Windows setting in one place. Is there anything like that in Windows 10?

A. The same trick that worked in Windows 7 and 8 works in Windows 10 as well. Sign in with an administrator account and then create a new folder on your desktop with this name "GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}" (without the quotes). Click on the folder icon to start customizing Windows however you want, including changing font sizes, choosing the options in toolbars and more. Did you like that Windows 10 secret? Here are five more you don't want to miss.

What does it do, exactly?

It throws up a folder with the name of Godmode and lets you change all kinds of settings

Try it out I just did

Pretty cool

Yeah, gives centralized access to some settings you otherwise have to dig for. If you already know where to go to change particular settings it doesn't help all that much, unless you are changing a lot of things in a go.

I used to set up the God-mode folder on my 7 installs, but I never used it. I guess it might come in handy for a new OS, where you don't know where to find settings otherwise.

What are the other five I don't want to miss?
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

What does it do, exactly?

Something similar to what PowerToys did for XP.  I had forgotten about all of that.
