This bitch has just pissed me off to no end. Here she is in a warehouse filled with pallets of food and water complaining about Trump. This, after her tweeting about how great the federal response has been. Apparently there's been enough communications restored for her to get the DNC/MSM talking points to "Turn Maria/PR into Trump's Katrina".
Lying *wow such a strong word to use, check your anger at the door*. DO. YOUR. *expletive deleted*ing. JOB. The feds get you the relief, it's your *expletive deleted*ing job to distribute it. You have hundreds if not thousands of folks on your payroll. You have an entire city with people who can help. It's easy to run your *daddy part*holster complaining, but it's time to do what you were elected by your people to do. LEAD !!!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fadefJFQlGk
Bitch, look behind you. What ARE your *expletive deleted*ing priorities ?? What are you doing to get things organized to get all that distributed ?? Maybe you should be pushed aside and let someone who can do the job you are proving yourself incapable of doing.
How about you get your *expletive deleted*it together and get trucks and drivers to get down to the port and start pulling containers out and distributing the aid that sitting on the docks.

Ms. Schumer beat me to it. At least this time I didn't open a duplicate thread.
http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2017/09/san-juan-mayor-tells-liberal-media-getting-no-help-trump-stands-front-pallets-aid/
I find it instructive that while probably 75 percent of the island still doesn't have electricity, the mayor's office somehow was able to arrange its "priorities" to set up a podium, a video camera, and a sound system right in the middle of a FEMA aid center. I wonder how many packs of bottled water the workers who set that up could have loaded onto trucks in the time they were working on setting up that presser.

I read this morning that she's also skipping all the logistics meetings with responders. So if you don't bother to attend critical meetings to learn what is going on, you should shut up. Especially when you're spending half your time getting custom t-shirts made about "we're all dying", and the other half on your sat phone talking to "the resistance". Not that even one death is too much, but there have only been 16 deaths in all of PR so far. Compare to Katrina.
As Scout alluded, the feds get the stuff there, but they count on local authorities to triage where stuff goes. The feds will even deliver it if local infrastructure is down, but they still need (fistful's favorite term) "boots on the ground" intel from local authorities to effectively distribute stuff.
The Mayor may have had some point if she was on TV in an empty warehouse, versus one packed full of critical supplies.

Interesting take from a Puerto Rican trying to help:

Saw this interview with the head of FEMA this morning.

While he stopped short of saying the mayor is a twit that is skipping meetings, he certainly implied it. I also really liked his style. "We don't have time for that" when asked about politics.

So she has a hands-on style of management. Great, but rebuilding an entire country after it has been decimated can't be done by one female mayor walking around hugging people. It's a logistical problem. If she's not coordinating the logistics, she's wasting her time, and everyone else's resources and contributions. She needs to skip the photo ops and get her pompis into the coordination center and start, like, coordinating.

It not just learning about what's going on, it's also about letting FEMA know where and when and what you want as far as food, water, medicine etc. Every burg above a few thousand folks has a disaster response plan. And it's all about getting immediate aid to people (Again food, water, medical, shelter). All that is done at the local level, with assistance from state, county, and local assets along with volunteer agencies.
If you are not at those meetings working with everyone on who's doing what and have your list of priorities, FROM YOUR DISASTER PLAN, because your people are DOING THEIR *expletive deleted*ing JOBS and letting you know where help is needed, then FEMA can't you the help you need.
FEMA and feds are not mind readers, you have to tell what you want and where you want it. If you can't and don't do that, then you fail and people die.

Look, you heartless trolls, 16 wise Latinos of color have died so far. If we can't use this to attack Trump, they will have died in vain. Why do you hatez dead peeple of colors? I am so triggers right now I cannot even...

I would love for nothing more then for Trump to pull her in front of AF1 and on live TV say "You're Fired" and appoint someone else to take over San Juan City government and get aid distributed and recovery efforts organized. Part of me wants an O-5/O-6 (Light or full bird Colonel) to take over, but there's still a part of me that doesn't want military to supplant civilian. Although, we do have precedent, somewhat, with Honore' in NOLA.
Maybe have a new election 6 months from now when things a somewhat back to "normal".

I heard Honore on NPR just a couple of days ago, talking about how this is the new Katrina. I don't recall whether or not he called out Trump specifically.

When you put together a group of E4's that are highly motivated at a task, nothing can stop them.

A naval historian dismisses criticism of the administration's Maria response.
https://www.bloomberg.com/view/articles/2017-09-30/no-trump-didn-t-botch-the-puerto-rico-crisis
First of all, there was a fair amount of anticipatory action that is not being recognized. Amphibious ships including the light amphibious carriers Kearsarge and Wasp and the amphibious landing ship dock Oak Hill were at sea and dispatched to Puerto Rico ahead of the hurricane’s impact.
These are large ships that have large flight decks to land and dispatch heavy-lift CH-53 helicopters to and from disaster sites. They also have big well-decks -- exposed surfaces that are lower than the fore and aft of the ship -- from which large landing craft can be dispatched to shore carrying over 150 tons of water, food and other supplies on each trip. These are actually the ideal platforms for relief operations owing to their range of assets. The ships, due to their designs to support Marine amphibious landings in war zones, also have hospitals onboard to provide medical treatment on a large scale. That these ships were in the area should be viewed as a huge positive for the administration and the Department of Defense.
Comfort can add to the solution, but her lack of well-decks and large boats as well as her limited support of helicopter operations means that she has to go alongside a pier to be effective. In the immediate aftermath of a huge storm, pulling into a port that has not been surveyed for underwater obstacles like trees or cables or other refuse is an invitation to either put a hole your ship or foul your propellers or rudders.
That being said, there was a broad misunderstanding of the Comfort’s mission. She is not an “emergency response ship” but rather a hospital ship. She was built to accompany a large military force into a war zone as part of a buildup over time of capabilities to respond to wartime injuries. She is manned by military and civilian mariners as well as active and reserve medical personnel. It takes time to both man and equip her for sea. Given that there was no certainty where the hurricane would hit, it doesn’t make sense to have readied her prior to its impact.

From my armchair, I thought that was a good analysis, especially regarding the USNS Comfort example. There are always the "Do something! Think of the children!" shrill voices, like Hillary Clinton that spout off with zero operational knowledge regarding what they're spouting off about. Her demand to send the Comfort is a good example of that.
-
Well, neither Hillary nor her devotees have the technical knowledge regarding how the Comfort works, so it's all "Yeah, yeah, right on, sister, blame Trump!"
The way things are going nowadays, if the Queen Mother farts in her bedchamber, it's Trump's fault.
-
Wow, the story is really starting to change:

It's getting really tiring saying, "Trump was right after all".

So not unexpectedly, this is going on:
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/10/12/fbi-in-puerto-rico-investigating-mishandling-fema-supplies.html
Nasty lady should be doing her griping a lot closer to home (or maybe she's too busy helping herself to supplies...).
Also, related, apparently a bunch of people are up in arms this morning because Trump said, "We can't stay in PR forever." That's kind of a "no duh" statement to logical people, but it appears many think we should stay there forever, doing everything for them.
My thought is that some will use this to try and get the PR infrastructure (which was barely hanging on before the hurricane) fixed and upgraded for "free" using FEMA as their vehicle.

I don't think there's any doubt.
I think we should perform basic infrastructure repairs (i.e. bring them back up to the same third world level of incompetance and unreliability they had before), then pull out and cut the apron strings. Terminate the territorial relationship and let them be their own country. Give them a cut-off so that anyone born more than nine months after the announcement will NOT be a U.S. citizen.

Waste of a valuable resource; how much do you think Branson would pay for a bigger island with a built in workforce?

And Carmen is back in the news:
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/oct/12/san-juan-mayor-accuses-trump-genocide-hurricane/
Now she says that if Trump doesn't provide more aid, he's guilty of genocide. However, the lady seems to be operating under a bit of a cognitive disconnect. She's asking the U.S. and the world to do all the heavy lifting to rebuild Puerto Rico, and at the same time she comes out with this gem:
“I ask the United Nations, UNICEF and the world to stand with the people of Puerto Rico and stop the genocide that will result from the lack of appropriate action of a President that just does not get it because he has been incapable of looking in our eyes and seeing the pride that burns fiercely in our hearts and souls,” the mayor continued.
Yeah ... we're so proud we have no problem at all expecting everybody else to fix our problems for us ... and pay for it. Because we're too proud to belittle ourselves by fixing our own mess.
Hija de perra.
-
Genocide. I wonder how Jews, Armenians, and a few other groups feel about her throwing that term around?
-
Typical - you heartless, white, male conservatives have no sympathy for a puertorriqueña just trying to extend her 15 minutes of fame.

Heh.
