BHO's Grandmother died today.
« on: November 03, 2008, 04:57:32 PM »

Sorry for his loss, personally.

But politically, could the timing be any better?  :|
I promise not to duck.

Despite my opinion of the man, I'm praying for his family at this time of loss...
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.

AJ, are you saying Obama whacked his grandmother to get sympathy votes?

Is this the Grandmother that Obama threw under the bus back during the primaries?

AJ, are you saying Obama whacked his grandmother to get sympathy votes?
I think he's just saying it's a very unfortunate (from our perspective) coincidence.

Eh, it was probably just another instance of my sarcasm meter being dead.

Why haven't you deadbeats bought me a new sarcasm meter yet?

Yep.

Actually I called that the media would play the sympathy card hugely on this. I'm sorry for the man's loss, but it wouldn't be the first time the media or others had a graveside political rally. My thread was quickly locked, I think this one had better stay above board.

I think the media has no shame or class. This is a news story only in the "Where's Waldo" sense of tracking a candidates travels.
We'll see if they have any respect for Obama and his deceased grandmother or if they turn it in to a made for TV drama on all the morning news shows.

I'm so contrarian that I didn't respond to the thread.

Well, depending on who wins, you may not need one.

It's possible that sarcasm is about to be outlawed.

Hate speech, you see.

Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.
I meet lots of folks like this, claim to be anarchist but really they're just liberals with pierced genitals. - gunsmith

Because the Paul Wellstone funeral was handled with such decorum...

Actually, I don't feel sorry for her. She passed before seeing the catastrophe her descendant is posed to wreak upon this country.

I don't wish her or her family ill, though. She's just fortunate in the timing of her passing.
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought
