inappropriate songs stuck in my head at work, then catch myself singing them out loud? Past favorites include Amerijuanican (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FqGOy6YapVw) by Bongzilla, Fink Dial (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QBi4T4vPGQ) and Web of Piss (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6w9QQBbTvU) by Iron Monkey, and today an obscenely titled song by Tenacious D. My brain is trying to get me fired. Also, if you were wondering those songs (and therefore the links to them) contain lots o' nsfw language.
-
Outside of the Tenacious D I don't know why you would be listening to any of those songs to get them stuck in your head.

It's some grade A angry music. I have a bad day, I come home and listen to someone else venting their anger and it helps me relax and forget doucheboss riding my ass and electricians who think the best place to run conduit is touching the panel that says "Side hatch do not obstruct." Besides, I like dirt pedals and fuzzes. :)

And the alternative to that, a bullet to the head. If you still had the brain function to do it, that is.

The only one I've had running through my head on a regular basis is the theme for Gilligans Island.
And I've found that the only way to get it out is to tell someone that it's running through my head.
It seems to be viral, in that it infects them completely.
So.....just....sit right back and you'll hear a tale..........
-
And I already know I am going stright to hell for that post. >:D

Aboard this tiny ship......
Great. Now I know what I will be thinking all day.

The two-note annunciator chimes on our building's elevators used to trigger one of my favorite melodies. Took me over a year to squash, subdue, and suppress that engram.
Darn! I shouldn't have thought of that!
Squash! Subdue! Begone!
Blast you, Balog!
...grumble...grumble...substitute... substitute...
"I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy / A Yankee Doodle, do or die. / A real live nephew of my Uncle Sam / Born on the Fourth of July / I've got a Yankee Doodle sweetheart..."
Aw, crap. Now that one's got me. I even have my internal youtube playing a video of Jimmy Cagney singing it.
Well, if you hear anyone else whistling or singing that tune by George M. Cohan today, you'll know s/he's an APS member.
Or just another one uh them patriotic right-wing flag-waving nuts like me.

One of the roads near my current location is US19...
And when I see it, I start mentally grooving on Nutbush (the Seger version for some reason...).

When I feel like messing with my wife I play "Sexbomb" by Tom Jones and it gets stuck in her head all day.

and time to nuke this thread from orbit.
not work/sanity safe. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6N94mA-ZaU) and a few more "songs" that might get you fired.

It's a world of laughter,
A world of tears.
It's a world of hopes, and a world of fears.
There's so much that we share,
That it's time we're aware,
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small, small world.
There is just one moon,
And one golden sun.
And a smile means friendship to every one.
Though the mountains divide,
And the oceans are wide,
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small world after all.
It's a small, small world.
See? They are all gone now.
You are welcome!!

Until 7 May, I worked in an insurance claims office. Is it wrong that I would frequently find myself humming the theme to The Incredibles under my breath?
-
Hmmm... I feel like listening to some serious Rob Zombie... My dual 15" subs are still in the Cat Whiz living room (and hooked to nothing), my 12 cubic foot dual 15" sub is at Arne's place, and my sealed audiophile subs are at Doc's...
Could someone do some serious decibels for me?

Whenever The Bee Gees' "Stayin' Alive" comes on the radio, my wife turns it up to try to get it stuck in my head.
When I had problems sleeping I'd get all sorts of songs stuck in my head. The worst for trying to sleep was Billy Idol's "Rebel Yell."
-
Reminds me, this is (in my opinion) the best cover of Rebel Yell. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f7O6ekKOE9g)
Today, though, I've had the music from The Last Ninja 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCNMcUzQ3Ws) (Commodore 64 FTW) stuck in my head. And it's not bothering me at all. =)

Much safer. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ)

I'm getting to love youtube surfing...
Listening to CSN's Winchester Cathedral at the moment... Through crappy speakers, but hey...
Hate their politics, love the harmonies...

Anyone know what the name of this song is.....http://www.youtube.com/user/jdefer#p/u/18/pDIL88x3GJU
And Bogie, I'm with you all the way on CSN. Winchester Catherdal is one their best IMHO. Great Tunes, Crappy Politcs.

Thanks for "Winchester Cathedral." Don't know about CSN's version, but I have the faux vaudeville version from the 60's stuck in my head now.
Thanks a lot. (https://armedpolitesociety.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.feebleminds-gifs.com%2Fstraight-jacket.gif&hash=53d9ad7d76ac2778bd854714ef79110f350a544a)

About 30 years ago another guy I worked with in a 40 person factory used to go around all day softly singing stupid songs to see how many people he could hook. I took it up also and we would have contests,(different songs). Helped to take some of the boredom out of the day.
A lot of the dumbest songs are the most adictive.

Where oh where are you tonight?

Psychologists' slang term for such songs is "earworms."
I read a synopsis of a study one psychologist did on such songs. He found that they all had very simple lyrics that were easy to remember (i.e. easy to get stuck in your head), with simple melodies. "Winchester Cathedral"--at least the one I had stuck in my head--qualified. He pointed to Abba's "Dancing Queen" as a common earworm.
Simple lyrics and melodies. I guess that's why I never get Beethoven's 9th symphony Chorale stuck in my head.

Don't make me break out "The Shaggs" !! :P [popcorn] [barf]
