I've been using a very sturdy brown belt, but I need to add a good-looking black belt to my wardrobe. It only needs to hold an XDs pistol, so I could probably get away with something a bit lighter.
I'd like to keep it under $50, if possible.
Suggestions?

BORING!
I was hoping this was thread where you would invite people to try and punch you in the face until you got so good at blocking them that you earned a black belt in some martial art.

I'm going to get some black slacks to wear at work, so it has to be OK for business casual. Probably leather.

If it were me and it was going to be my only black belt and I was going to use it with a holster, I'd just spring for a real gun belt. Maybe you only want to carry your XDs now, but if you want to rock the 1911 or another big gun at some point, you'll then have a belt that can take it.
Crossbreed has a plain black belt for $60, but I bet you can find something from one of the other good holster makers at your $50 price point.
Edit: actually Simply Rugged has one right at $50:

For the past three years my regular belt has been a Boston Leather Company Off-Duty 1 1/2” belt. Not very fancy, but simple and decent looking. Also plenty strong for supporting a pistol. Too, it is very inexpensive. I think I paid $16.

Thanks. I got all fancy, and went for the lined version.

I got one of these. It's a very nice belt, and made in the USA:

I don't wear a gun, but think it would work well for that purpose, the leather is very thick.

I picked up a couple of single piece leather black belts at Kohl's recently. Good, sturdy construction, and the price was decent.
They have worked out real well for carry.
