I like how the real-life item was inspired by a machine gun in Aliens.  Which is still my favorite film of the franchise.

I've seen a video floating around Facebook where someone mounted a SCAR to something like that, I believe it's actually some sort of fancy video camera equipment. It was pretty neat.
