Now that really IS a funny coincidence . . . after many years of having AT&T DSL service (1.5 Mbps) I decided it was time for a change - largely because for about the last 1.5 to 2 months the service has been getting crappier and crappier, slowing down and sometimes cutting out altogether. And a visit by an AT&T tech didn't solve the problems.
AT&T stopped their higher speed services ONE street short of mine - and can't tell me when or even if they'll even be extending it.
So this very afternoon I shifted to 100 Mbps service from Spectrum Cable. Yeah, yeah, I know, cable companies aren't high on my list of favorite businesses either, but in this case, my 100 Mbps service came in on the Ookla speedtest at 117 Mbps. (I was lucky if AT&T's 1.5 Mbps service clocked in at an actual 1.3.)
And the cost is lower - at least for now.
I was able to download the 32+ GB of a fresh installation of Armored Warfare in about 45 minutes instead of the more than 2 days that DSL would have taken me - if it didn't hang or slow down.
So right now, I'm a happy camper like RKL.
Next step, soon to follow: replacing my 18 or 19 year old 36" CRT TV in the living room with a new flat panel, probably a 4K Sony 65" 900E series.
