The 'republican establishment' can go pound sand up their aholes.
After seeing the antics of boehner and mcconnel in action, I'm leery of not voting for anyone who fits in with the rest of the republicans.

Ill toss a vote to whoever is the R candidate. However, it will just be voting AGAINST Hillary. If it's an outsider that is the R. I'll vote FOR them. Will be the first time in a while that I will have actually voted for someone rather than against the idiots from the other party.

The establishment R's really are panicking.  If they are willing to abandon Jeb! and don't think Rubio is ready for Prime Time, then the Tea Party Conservatives may get a candidate they want this time.  And might win.  R's only win when they run a true conservative.

I still think it would be best to have a 12-party system... where coalitions have to be formed and 91.6% of the time nothing can get done.

I'm not signing this one so nobody can tell who posted it.

Implying that Conservatism was not normally compassionate.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

You mean like the one the National Socialists manipulated to come to power? In modern day multi-cameral states I see no fountain of awesomeness that automatically suggests that is the way. I mean look how dumb Germany can be.

They've pretty much fixed that.  In order to get a seat in the Bundestag you have get at least 5% of the vote.  So the small, smaller parties are kept out.   Also the upper house, the Bundesrat, (which you don't hear much about in the news) is composed of folks appointed by each State to represent the interest of the States and not the people (like here, before the 17th Amendment).  Also the President of Germany is selected by the Bundesrat, while the Chancellor is selected by the Bundestag.  The President is Head of State; the Chancellor is the Head of the Government.  It does actually work pretty good.  The parties are used to working together to actually compromise on legislation (unlike here where compromise is "Doing it the way the Democrats say".) which puts them a lot more middle to right of center on the road, then one would expect.

And the current immigrant thing (up until Paris), was that Germans still feel guilt about the war, so that was a way to show the rest of Europe and the world that "Hey, we're nice guys now."
