USS Miami may get scrapped.

Local news in NH and Fox News are reporting that the Navy's desire to fix the sub is "wavering" under budget constraints.

I think the Navy had their hopes sunk.

Bad luck ship.  Scrap it.
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

To pay for the repairs, the Navy could sell a few cases of ammo.

I know it's impolite to derail a pun-chain but what happens to the crew that would have been posted to that U-boat?

Many of the officers and enlisted were likely already chosen and now they have been err....still-berthed as it were.

They could serve as sub-stitutes for another boat  ;)

That's not all that far off the mark. When I took my 1st boat through overhaul we had quite a few that got "loaned" to other boats on deployments.
Likely most will be assigned to other boats, some will stay therd for routine maintenance until it gets fixed or decommed.

Would they be sub-servient to the other crews?

Perhaps they will fetch their new crew mates sandwiches from the local Subway.

Well, pun heavy threads tend to just burn out after a bit.

The bad puns are going to torpedo this thread.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

Too bad....this story had pinged my interest....
Impressed yet befogged, they grasped at his vivid leading phrases, seeing only their surface meaning, and missing the deeper current of his thought.
