Why a gun company, even a German one, would take to meaningless virtue signaling is beyond my comprehension. Political pressure, maybe?
Considering that HK is routinely limited in what it can sell here in the U.S. to the private commercial market by the Bundesregierung,
even if they were to have a separate U.S. incorporation and produce those firearms here in the U.S.... I'd say that's a "yes".
I'm not even sure if it's really the "normal" confluence of Leftism, PCism, and being anti-gun going on between Germany and HK. After all, I don't think anyone would peg Belgium as a paragon of Right wing or Libertarian thought... However, they are still happy to see FN succeed with all the un-PC firearms, PS90s, Semi-Auto M249s, Five-Se7ens etc. they can sell to the U.S. Civilian market. They at least seem to have the more pragmatic approach to European Leftism/Socialism, that a smart parasite wants a healthy host....
I get the impression, that certain German institutions and companies etc. get selected as proxy whipping-boys for the continuing German self-flagellation over Nazism. And that the selection process is either an emotive process and not rational, or it's just hard to understand the criteria for who gets to be the proxy-Nazis in modern day Germany if you're not born and raised German...
