Title: Politically Incorrect Prince Philip
Post by: Ben on August 06, 2017, 11:44:16 PM
If somebody ever puts out a book of all his witticisms, I'm buying it.

Even as an American I can appreciate his sense of humour:

Quote
He loved what Britain stood for, though even he could see its weak spots. “People think there’s a rigid class system here, but dukes have been known to marry chorus girls. Some have even married Americans.”

I love the bias in the article:

Quote
He did not mellow with age. On a visit to China in 1986, he warned a group of British exchange students, “If you stay here much longer, you’ll all be slitty-eyed.” Years later, he defended his comment. “The Chinese weren’t worried about it, so why should anyone else (be)?”

It wasn’t just foreigners he offended.

Wait wait wait. He just said the Chinese WEREN'T offended. Other people were offended for them.

Maybe the Chinese have no problem with a little ribbing over superficial physical differences.

But, nope. They were offended. The author is sure of that.
