The Irony of it All
« on: November 18, 2016, 07:25:04 PM »
So I just read the story below, where Arizona electors are being harassed to change their votes for Trump. You know, because Clinton won the popular vote and all. Except for in Arizona, Trump won the popular vote. So we hate the electoral college and love the popular vote, unless our person loses the popular vote, then we demand the electoral college accommodate us.

I haven't looked it up yet, but am wondering if there are any red states where Clinton got the popular vote. My guess is almost all her popular vote advantage is from high population blue states (CA for example). If they are trying to make red state electors change their votes in states where Trump also got the popular vote, hello hypocrisy.

They wouldn't be red states if she got the popular vote.  :P

Yes, it's hypocrisy.  They don't care.  They want to stop Trump by any means necessary.  Steal the election, harass the electors, assassination, what it takes.

Hypocrisy? Well, one generally doesn't expect principles from those seeking to the change the rules at the end of the game.

Clinton won the popular vote by a little over 1.2 million nationally and by over 3 million in California. Geee, that isn't outsize influence at all.

Does it work like that in the states with the split electorals though?

Keep in mind that Hillary got about 1/2 her Electoral votes in three states, CA (55), NY (29), and IL (20).   Maybe the red congressional districts of those states should be able to vote for Trump ?

Yes.  The candidate with the most votes wins the state.  The popular vs electoral vote anomaly is only at the national level.

It's a feature, not an anomaly.

Which, further irony, they are spectacularly demonstrating (ha ha) right now. I only wish that there would be more mainstream distribution of the facts, like with cartoon pictures, featuring CA, NY, etc. Sadly, the MSM are one of the leaders in distorting the facts. Also sadly, the electoral college and "Confederated Republic" should have been taught in school.

Ben is right.  Of course, that's NE and ME...not enough to make a difference, and in those states, it's popular vote for 2, then congressional districts for the others, so it -really- wouldn't make a difference.
