Anyone know where this is from? Writin looks Arabic. Riot cops in a shield wall, frag grenade tossed at them, guy tries to punt it just as it goes off.  :O

ETA: might be Thailand, part of the rice riots going on there.

Damn!  I wonder if the boot flying away still had his foot in it?  Couldn't tell from the video.

It looks like an M67, but from my limited experience at Fort Benning, an M67 would have obliterated more than one guy.

We're just lucky the thugs in Oakland and Detroit don't have ready access to nades.
Personally, I do not understand how a bunch of people demanding a bigger govt can call themselves anarchist.

What would have been the net effect of the grenade in contact with the shield?

I would guess that it would have broken his arm with the force, possibly rotated the shield out of the way and torn into his lower legs.  Or possibly even torn the shield into pieces and cut him apart pretty good.  No?

Depends on the quality of the shield. Some are bulletproof, which would be much better protection against the grenade then naught.

Yes. Pretty much anything that isn't going to turn into shrapnel is going to be better than nothing.

It may not have been the best choice, but at least the guy was trying to protect his chums.
