Technically speaking, they won't be getting a raise until the next election. So, if they get thrown out, the guys replacing them will get a bigger salary then they do.

You see what I am suggesting?

Yeah, but I think we ought to cut their pay and impose term limits.

How many people do you think would still run for congress with term limits and say 75k a year?

Maybe that's not such a bad thing.

If I like a Congressman or other politician, I want to keep re-electing him time after time.

Yeah, but what if the one people like is Pelosi?  I'd rather take my chances with an unknown with term limits than having horrible senators re-elected time and again.  Don't give them the chance to get too comfortable.  I don't think they should have time to get to know the system too intimately, they do more damage then.

NH legislators get paid $100 a year, and that's it.

Love it how Congress gets all indignant about companies and banks giving bonuses to executives, but quietly passes a pay raise for themselves...

Congress sees itself as the ruling elite.  That's why it imposes law on the rest of the nation that it and its members are exempt from.

Too many.  Make it minimum wage, 5 sick days and 9 holidays per year, and you might have something.

Throw in a two-term limit and one week paid vacation after 10 years, and it'll be a pretty good start.

Why do you want Congress to be in session for that long? Give them 360 days' paid leave and stuff will start looking up.

Well, I'd also like to see them switch to the Texas system; 120 day session every other year, and one topic per bill.

How about a 1 day session every 120 years ??

Give'em a half million a year.  Then each year their pay is inversely indexed to the budget deficit.  5% budget imbalance nets a 5% reduction in pay to congress.
