It is much more powerful to seek Truth for one's self.  Seeing and hearing that others seem to have found it can be a motivation.  With me, I was drawn because of much error and bad judgment on my part. Confronting one's own errors and bad judgment is a very life altering situation.  Confronting the errors and bad judgment of others is usually hypocrisy.

Me too.  Such a small portion of guns purchased at gun shows (via private sellers), or through private sales used in crimes to make the law "unreasonable".  I am very unclear what their proposal means for private sales.... family? friends? friend at the gun club? friend at work?

I suspect it is modeled after the Pennsylvania law which means immediate family members versus Uncle's to nephews and so forth.  I was against the PA law when it was enacted, but many in PA thought it a good thing which I could never understand.  It always generated a comment like... so you want to sell your gun to a criminal???  Stupid.  That was already illegal.

The whole deal just adds more cost and inconvenience to gun transfers between parties.  The term "off the books" will have substantial relevance if this law is passed.
It shall be as it was in the past... Not with dreams, but with strength and with courage... Shall a nation be molded to last. (The Plainsman, 1936)

Run by Gottlieb (also with SAF), who wrote the freaking thing. No wonder CCRKBA is endorsing it.

And they used to have REAL common sense about firearms legislation (near-universal opposition to it, that is).

How unfortunate. Reminds me of the R's trying to get cute on Obamacare only to have Roberts stab us in the back. GOP is too stupid and desperate for the MSM to love them to play this kind of game.

With this kind of thinking, the Allies would have surrendered to Hitler in April, 1945

Anyone actually read this bill in its current form?

Gun talk radio talked about this.  Supposedly little or nothing given up, but a lot of pro-gun provisions.  Said it wassortof a political maneuver to give congressmen something acceptable to vote for so they can say they did something.

The bill or the amendment?  I've read the latter in detail, and a bunch of the former.

They are both BAD.  Little real positive change, LOTS of exploitable or just downright bad anti-gun stuff.
