Huh.  Typical firing pin/striker block is pretty simple.  Hard to mess up.

Until the ATF tracks you down

Or the bullets come down.

Had that happen outdoors with a .22 pistpl once.  Mag dump. No reports of damage.  Diagnosed to excessive clearance over the striker, allowing striker to slip off sear under recoil of each shot.  Was a lightweight high-recoil cheap Sterling .22 auto.  Unfixable without inordinate effort, destroyed firearm obtained before  GCA68 bullshit.

Had that happen with a new RIA 1911 at the range.   Would double-tap.   Shots were so rapid I didn't realize it until I noticed only four "shots" were fired with four holes in the target.  Diagnosed it to burrs on the disconnector parting line, polished it, works fine now.

I suggest test firing any newly-obtained semi, long or handgun, with three rounds only from the mag.  A little reflection will reveal why.

I'm not signing this one so the ATF won't know who posted it or who had a dirty firing pin in an SKS with ten rounds of squishy-soft primers in American 7.62 X 39 ammo nine of whose bullets came down on the backstop which was planet earth.

Not unknown for newly purchased SKSs to do a mag dump after the bolt is released because the firing pin is gummed up with cosmoline.  And due to the fact at that you only have one hand on it at the time you have little to no control over where the bullets go.  :O

Also because of fouling.  I disassembled the entire thing and detail-cleaned it.  Made sure firing pin slopped back and forth freely.  No problems after that.

See:
https://murraysguns.com/sks-firing-pins/

I installed one of his firing pins in another SKS, but, oddly, I have never shot it since.

Going full auto, as in the OP, is not fun.

Also not unknown for the SKS to to auto due to:

1. People disassembling the bolt to clean out the cosmoline and putting the firing pin in upside down. Yes, it matters. The firing pin is ever so slightly trapezoidal in shape. Put it in upside down and it can jam forward.

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRT!

2. People disassembling the bolt to clean out the cosmoline and then lubing the firing pin with one of the super lubes. With no firing pin spring inertia is NOT your friend, especially not with soft primers. This usually only causes doubling or tripling.

BAM!BAM!

All as mentioned in Murphy's info, K-Frame, but thanks. Good to point it out again.

Yep, I missed that link, too.

My first experience with an SKS going feral was in the early 1990s when I was working for American Rifleman. Coworker had one double on him. Super lube.

Never saw one go full auto due to a jammed firing pin, but I've heard quite a few instances of it. In most cases, though, they seem to jam before they dump the whole magazine.
