The economy has been a dominant factor in elections all my life. Dems made decisions that are hitting people in the wallet like deliberately tanking oil production and they did it in a very visible way.
Dems thought they could use abortion as a wedge issue to combat that, but it appears that issue isn't big enough, people don't really care, or possibly working against them. Add in going after guns, rising crime, etc. Most issues are working against them.

What do you know? Even suburban women are a lot more likely to pay for gas and groceries than get an abortion. And they also care about letting boys use their daughters locker room.
