http://www.palmbeachpost.com/ap/ap/us/possible-shooting-reported-at-lax/nbfNH/
At least a dozen shots, supposedly. Inside the terminal. I assume this means it is inside the "secure" area past the TSA?
-
Probably not, anything inside the doors would be counted as inside the terminal by the media.

According to http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/11/01/passengers-evacuated-from-terminal-at-los-angeles-international-airport-after/ (http://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/11/01/passengers-evacuated-from-terminal-at-los-angeles-international-airport-after/)
One witness said a person with a rifle opened fire after getting through a security checkpoint.
-
I'm watching it on Fox Business, and they, at least, are being very careful to say only that there were shots fired in the terminal, but that there is no solid information yet as to where exactly it happened.
EDT: Well, except for what adively posted while I was typing. That's the second time i heard that it was a rifle.

A TSA official is reported dead.
-
The Los Angeles Times reports that two or three TSA employees were hit by gunfire.
Purple Hearts all around for the Thousands Standing Around! Let's arm them and make them real sworn LEA's while we're at it. ;/

Watching live report from Foxnews.com, it does look like a AR15 - M4 Style. They showed a wider view and it appears to be at a gate (waiting chairs, etc.)
-
Too early to speculate on what's happened, but my heart goes out to any innocent people who were harmed. =|
-
Just heard that the shooter might have been a disgruntled TSA employee.

Just heard that the shooter might have been a disgruntled TSA employee.
Just read that and shooter is in custody.

Just read that and shooter is in custody.
When things like this happen, I usually assume a disgruntled employee or an angry husband/boyfriend taking out his frustration on the one doing the dirty with his wife/girlfriend.

what! another "gun free zone" shooting?
-
A person describing an injury:
“I said, let me take a look, and he pulls up the pant leg and there’s a flesh wound — 3 to 4 inches — looks like it’s straight out of Hollywood, maybe a drop of blood or two,” he said.
It's amazing to me when people reference movies to stress how "realistic" something looks.
-
The libtard avalanche has begun on Twitter.
"Another shooting with an assault rifle. Surprise, surprise. "
-
what! another "gun free zone" shooting?
With this being TSA-on-TSA violence, that means it wouldn't have happened at all if the TSA wasn't in the airports in the first place.
Maybe we can get the TSA classified as an organized criminal syndicate over this, or a gang, or domestic terrorism group.

Where did you read that? (not that it would surprise me)

http://www.nbclosangeles.com/news/local/Los-Angeles-Airport-LAX-Shooting-230220201.html
During a mid-day news conference, authorities did not confirm reports that the gunman was an off-duty or former TSA employee.
Drudge used to have a different story link but has since pulled it. Speculative, but I saw it at Daily Paul, Drudge and elsewhere. Now, this is the only one I can find.

A TSA official is reported dead.
Just one?
-
Another one claiming shooter was TSA agent... headline says it.
http://kfor.com/2013/11/01/los-angeles-airport-evacuated-for-reported-shooting/
-
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2013/nov/1/possible-shooting-reported-lax/
Washington Times says that despite earlier reports, shooter is not an off-duty TSA employee.
Note the wording though, that there is no denial that the shooter is not a former TSA employee.
Also:
One witness was taking a nap, when he was awakened by the sound of gunfire and panicked people, CNN reported.
“I heard a popping sound and everybody was diving for cover,” said the man, Robert Perez, to CNN. “The TSA said there was a shooting in the terminal and to evacuate the building.”
Mr. Perez said he saw about 100 people fleeing down the stairs.

http://www.mediaite.com/tv/nbc-news-pete-williams-lax-shooter-paul-anthony-ciancia-had-strong-anti-government-views/
NBC's Peter Williams evidently has ALREADY done enough research on Paul Ciancia to determine he's a right wing anti-government type.
ETA: Surprised the shooter's name isn't Jimmy Schiflett. ;/

Wouldn't be the first time. We've pretty much heard that every shooter was a tea party republican nut. Until they aren't.

He added that no database indicates that Ciancia was on a watch list and the shooters home has not been searched.
Does the news have a list of everybody that is on these databases or something?

They probably compiled the list in the first place.

A man carrying a note that said he wanted to "kill TSA" pulled a semi-automatic rifle from a bag and shot his way past a security checkpoint at Los Angeles International Airport on Friday, cutting down one Transportation Security Administration officer and wounding at least three others, authorities said.
Been wondering when this sort of thing would happen.
-
Wonder if the shooter had a bad experience with the TSA at some point.
-
^^the tsa agent smiled a bit too much during his strip search?
the talking heads are reporting that even those who have had no exposure to guns "knew" that it was a "big" gun by the sound. seriously, you might as well say my source is an idiot but i'm quoting them anyway.
Isn't this the same place where they were getting dry ice bombs?
it would be interesting if video surfaced of him watching the response from that day.

Nooz reported he was texting his family long, rambling texts right before the incident. My money is on him being diagnosed mentally ill.

thats a very good bet
interesting that roomates said he seemed fine. some folks are very aware that somethings wrong and conceal it from other folks well
-

Only if he had ever flown in the last ten years.
Are all the terminals at LAX similar? The one(s) that I have been through, unless you are one of those platinum gold super priviledged flyer folks, you have to go down a long zig zagging underground tunnel to get to the security check. It's like going into a dungeon prison ("abandon all hope...") and ALL of the TSA agents were fat and black.
I guess he could have shot his way through the upper floor security, but they have a bunch of folks screening out all the peasant flyers before you can even get in the line =|

On meds. Then off meds. Then pew pew pew the voices told me to do it.

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure they are not all the same. The terminal he attacked had pretty much no setback from the street. Nooz says a dozen steps from the doors to the security line.

I don't think any of them have more than a wide sidewalk setback from the street area.
I don't remember the nightmare terminal number where I was, but it served Delta ( =( ) I think.

From linked article at Fox News below.
Ciancia, 23, remained hospitalized Saturday after being hit four times and wounded in the mouth and leg. The FBI said he was unresponsive and they had not been able to interview him.
The announcement of charges came after authorities say they have found a note handwritten by Ciancia in which he describes his intent to kill TSA employees and “pigs,” a law enforcement official told The Associated Press. The handwritten note found in Ciancia's duffel bag and signed by him stated that he had "made the conscious decision to try to kill" multiple TSA employees and that he wanted to stir fear in them, FBI agent in charge David L. Bowdich said.
"Black, white, yellow, brown, I don't discriminate," the note read, according to a law enforcement official who spoke to the Associated Press.
The suspect's screed reportedly also mentioned "fiat currency" and "NWO," possible references to the New World Order, a conspiracy theory that foresees a totalitarian one-world government.
A law enforcement official who was not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity, said the note referred to how the gunman believed his constitutional rights were being violated by TSA searches and that he was a “pissed-off patriot” upset at former Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano.
Emphasis added.

My opinion on Bad Things happening to TSA minions would get me TJIC'd.
That said, I don't have a lot of sympathy for willing participants of what the TSA does.

Um... the victim was an employee of one of the most hated government institutions in existence.

So it was a .22 Magnum Rimfire, then?

It's been done. Google "Sandy Hook."
Bushmaster is SOOOOOOO yesterday ...

So has the Navy Yard shooting.
Why? Because there weren't any children massacred. Insufficient Sympathy Quotient (ISQ) when the only victims are all adults.
