I know Autozone and Carquest (IIRC) will do the reader thing for free.

I actually meant he could use it as a trip odometer, since Torque Pro does that, among a bunch of other realtime analytical functions. Though if it were me, I'd just get the gas gauge fixed. By the time you add up costs of various workaround, you're just about there cost-wise anyway.

I just light a match and look down there to see how much is left.
WHATEVER YOUR DEFINITION OF "INFRINGE " IS, YOU SHOULDN'T BE DOING IT.

Ah yes.  That's an excellent solution, sans the prospect of creating a fiery death blossom.  ;)
Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.

You could always get a $15 Chinese ODB2 reader and Torque Pro.

Got it, but the OBDII in that model doesn't include fuel level.  Flow rate, yes, but not the level.  Flow rate is handy, but only if Torque is always active every time the car is running.
