Joe Biden's comments would frequently make the front page of most newspapers - above the fold - along with some snide comments if he were a Republican.
Anyone remember Dan Quayle? He said far fewer "dumb" quotes, but he was severely put through the media wringer, and that was well before popular MSM cable and the Internet.
Hawkmoon - Never underestimate another person's capacity for stupidity. Any time you think someone can't possibly be that dumb ... they'll prove you wrong.
Viking - The problem with the modern world is that there aren't really any predators eating stupid people.
Remember Dan Quayle getting into a fight with the TV character Murphy Brown?
http://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/1993/04/dan-quayle-was-right/7015/He didn't "get into a fight" with Murphy Brown. He pointed out that our culture was promoting single females as parents. Choosing a fictional character to point out that Hollywood was doing so was exactly the matter at hand. It was the liberal control of the media (and your unquestioned acceptance of the premise) that tired to make a big deal about "BUT SHE ISN'T REAL!!" Well, yes, and that was rather the point.

Maybe you should. When The Atlantic (not exactly a bastion of conservative thought) AGREES with Dan Quayle, after the hounding he got from the MSM, it's worth a read....
