XBOX 360 Compatibility

Does anyone know if the new XBox 360 will be backwards compatibile with the original XBox system?

Specifically.........

             ---  Will XBox 360 play games from the original system?

             ---  Can you do System Link between an original system and the new 360 system?

I read that not everything will be backwards compatible but most of the big games will be.

The most important thing that you need to know about this is that the old XBox is totally obsolete and you need to FedEx yours to me immediately, with all your games.... Wink

Lot of debate about this, to the point where I've decided that I'm going to let other people find out what's back compatible before I go plunging in for another Bill Gates Money Sucking Machine.

Some will be backwards compatible, some won't.  Since the 360 is running a different architecture than the XBox, I would assume anything that needs to work will have to be ported over.

The $400 machine will be backwards compatible.

The $300 machine doesn't have a hard drive.  Most Xbox games need the harddrive.
