Here a bill that bans 50 cal rifles and ammo and more

Quote
The Stop Arming Cartels Act of 2024 proposes banning the manufacture, sale, possession, importation or transfer of .50-caliber rifles by civilians in the United States. The legislation filed by Democratic U.S. Reps. Joaquin Castro and Veronica Escobar of Texas, and Maxwell Frost of Florida would require anyone who possesses one such rifle prior to the bill going into effect to register it in the National Firearms Registration and Transfer Record.

The bill also calls for victims of gun violence to be allowed to sue manufacturers and dealers who violate a federal statute known as the Kingpin Act. It establishes an exemption to the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act that shields gunmakers from most lawsuits.

Other provisions include mandating gun dealers to report multiple sales of rifles to state and local law enforcement.

6,000 feet in five minutes doesn't sound terribly extreme. 1200 feet per minute, 20 feet per second. That's not even 1 G.

No it not but there are signs that there was moment or two in there the rate was much higher

Such holes in the air aren't uncommon. A had a cousin who was a flight attendant for United Airlines. He was badly injured when a flight she was working hit a hole in the air and she struck the cabin roof, then the deck. It was months before she was able to return to work, she continued to have back problems, and she eventually took a medical retirement.

What do you do when a party gets cancelled by the venue? Why you go on a rampage of course with the party organizers calling people encouraging them to riot.
That thin veneer of civilization is getting thinner and thinner

Quote
A 400-man riot broke out at a Florida skate park after the venue canceled a planned after party at the last minute.

The large brawl erupted Saturday night in the parking lot at Astro Skate in the Tampa Bay Metropolitan area after frustrated party organizers put out a call online encouraging people to 'riot' and 'confront law enforcement' at the skate park.

The rampage saw more than 400 people, both children and adults, fighting, stealing and causing damage to local businesses.

Quote
Investigators say the fight broke out after Astro Skate canceled a planned after party because the event hosts failed to hire an off-duty deputy to monitor the event, as per company policy.

Although the skate park refunded their money, the party-goers were seemingly angry and took to social media asking people to meet at the business and riot.

When deputies arrived at the scene, approximately 400 to 500 people were fighting and causing disturbances in the Astro Skate parking lot and at nearby businesses.

The United States Postal Service continues on its race to the bottom.

My new gripe: Tracking.

I have a small item I bought last week. The vendor sent me a notice that the item had shipped last week, on May 16, and they provided a USPS tracking number. The "tracking" information included multiple entries prior to actual shipment, then a notice that the USPS had the item and that it was at a regional distribution facility and that delivery was expected before 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 20th. It showed that information up until 10:00 p.m. last night (the 20th) but, of course, the package didn't arrive.

As of this morning, the "tracking" reports that the package will arrive late. No estimate of when, and no information regarding where it is or where it has been since it arrived at the regional distribution facility in the vendor's home city.

Useless.

A little bumpy or why it's a good idea to always wear your seat belt

Of course the article then has to go into Boeing's problems

I heard Microsoft wants to set up a subscription model with Windows.  The only articles I see are from last year and talking about Windows 12.  Not sure how that would work.  Seems to me it would push a lot more people into competing systems.

I was listening to the Unsubscribe Podcast and the Fat Electrician goes into a analogy for Communism that I thought was pretty good.  I think I got the time stamp right, but it may take a few seconds to get to the right spot.
