Does anyone make a silenced levergun?  I thought I recall seeing a website for one a while back, but I can't remember.

Cool.  I would like to see one in 44 Mag or 45 Colt, but I am not sure what the best lever gun cartridge would be to get a big slow bullet.

The Chiappa triple threat was at the top of the links on the right.  That actually looks pretty neat.  Assuming the price isn't too high.  I know it isn't much compared to a good pump action, but it is about as neat as a side by side.  Interesting guns are sometimes more fun to own than just good or useful guns.

(edit:  I saw the price for the Chiappa.  I am not THAT interested.  Not even close.)

That's an interesting bit Ian recounts too, about Hiram Percy Maxim and the automobile muffler.

Where would we be now, WRT guns, if NFA '34 hadn't happened?

It would be interesting to see the designs of integrally suppressed barrels that come out.  I imagine some would make efforts to get a decent barrel length and velocity without adding 3 feet of suppressor to the end of the barrel.  Lots of hand guard/ supressor designs maybe.

I wonder if ammunition design would change?  Not just downloaded or slower, but different bullets designs, or cases or both.  Not sure why that would make a difference but you never know.  Maybe more long range hunters would be using bigger/slower cartridges designed to fly down range.

And this was the image I was looking for:

Quote
The speed dispersion of ultra slow .308 loads with jacketed bullets was high because of the minimum amount of powder in a large volume .308 case. One of the shots did not produce any speed readings, and it was very quiet also. After removing the suppressor, a curious sight was seen in the muzzle: The Slowest Bullet Ever was still hesitating its Giant Leap for the Wisdom of Mankind. Finally, it was carefully snapped out of the muzzle with a cleaning rod, and the test was continued.
