I Think These are the Most Expensive Mud Boots in the World
« on: October 27, 2013, 10:35:22 PM »
I'm needing a new pair of mud boots, so was perusing Amazon and these came up in the search. Who the HELL pays $500 for a pair of rubber boots? Just because they're from France? They'd better come with 1960's Brigitte Bardot attached to them!

I don't know about $500, but I've heard green Wellies are the preferred sporting and farming footwear of the English gentry.

A pair of LaCrosse Burlies will do the same thing for 1/5th the price.

Anyone who spends more then $40 on a pair of muck boots is out of their minds.

You don't stomp around in *expletive deleted*it in $500 boots.

Yeah, mine were about $29 I think ...

For $500, those boots should cause a drouth

Yeah, my current pair I think I paid like $30-40 from Northern Tool, and they lasted nearly eight years. I want to get some better insulated ones this time so might spend 20 or so dollars more this time around. I saw Cabelas has some insulated ones in the bargain cave right now for around $50. I'll need to check the reviews, but they might be an option.

Can't you still buy felt liners like for Sorrels  ???

Unless you are on the max end of foot size, get cheap rubber boots too big plus felt liners to go inside.

Or alpaca wool socks.  Just how cold does it get there on the beach ?   ;/

Sometimes I walk for miles in mine cruising timber and/or hunting, so $120-$150 mud boots are a lot more comfortable for walking then the $40 Sorels from the farm store.

I walk what probably amounts to miles on concreate everyday.

The cheap farm store boots are just as comfy (well, actually more comfy) as the $200 hiking boots I used to have as work boots.

Lucky you.  I would be crippled if I wore cheap shoes on concrete all day.

I am trying to remember if there was a time when everything I had on was worth more than $500.  Maybe a suit and dress shoes.

It scares me sometimes, but I reckon I am worth a lot especially with a firearm.

Boots: $150
Jeans: $13
Shirt: $25
Belt: $45
Ammo carrier: $20
Key clip: $20
Knife: $75 (? this was a work anniversary gift)
Holster: $75
BH.357: paid $400 worth a lot more now

You forgot to include the actual ammunition in hogleg and carrier. That's worth a fair bit nowadays.  ;)

Yeah, close to $10 for a dozen rounds  =(

Forgot the hat and socks, etc too.

Then if it's cold start adding the cost of a coat ....

Chris

I have high arches and big feet (womans ten, wide) plus knee problems and badly fitting shoes kill my feet.

I found that the $36 doller servpro rubber boots one size too big with cushy socks to be the better fit then the more expesive rubber rain boots. In fact, they broke in faster then my expesive hiking boots (Vasques, before the moved production to US) that I had fitted in a high end outdoor store (local Blue Ridge Mountain Sports) and are more comfortable overall.

Cost does not determine fit.

Plus, a lot can be taken care of with inserts (which is how I manged to make my Ariet paddock tolerable)

Rgr that.
Mine are my all around hunting boots.
I can walk for miles and miles in them, and they keep my feet warm sitting in a stand all day when its 20 degrees out.
Sorels are better for warmth, but suck to walk in.
Cheap mud boots suck to walk and and suck when it comes to keeping the feet warm.

Hell even on soft surfaces too. I loath buying shoes because for ones I can wear all day with out hurting, its BOHICA time at the cash register.

Well he'll if I include the firearm and ammo, I am over $500 as soon as I put it on.  Next you have to consider the cash in your pocket and if you are entering or leaving the gun store/show.   ;/
