As you know, Americans were temporarily prohibited from questioning one another's patriotism during the Bush administration.  With the lifting of that restriction, it behooves us to make up for lost time, by ferretting out those disloyal to our great republic.

I'll start with the obvious, which should need no explanation:  seeker_two.

Secondly, Laurent du Var.  I mean come on.  This guy has a Frenchy name.  He has a Frenchy avatar.  He probably lives in France, for cryin' out loud.  THAT is not very patriotic.

I've never heard of them...

Wait, are you inviting me to become one!?  :O
I wish the Ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us. There are other forces at work in this world, Frodo, besides the will of evil. Bilbo was meant to find the Ring. In which case, you also were meant to have it. And that is an encouraging thought

I'm not comfortable with Fistful's thread-starting for several reasons.

1.  Since when did APS ever say anything about being an American-only forum?

2. We're supposed to be a polite forum.  Humor is fine, but let's not go overboard. Calling out people's patriotism or lack thereof ain't exactly kosher. If they're being a 'tard about how the Republic is supposed to work, that's one thing...

3. We've got forum members who aren't situated in North America.  There's nothing wrong with that, but I'd rather not alienate them.

Think twice, post once.  It'll work better that way.  You'll regain your top post count soon enough. ;)

In response to Mr. Tactical Pants' questions about my patriotism, I would like to take this time to avoid the question and use accusation and hyperbole to divert attention back at MTP.....

MTP: How dare YOU question my patriotism!!!....

....YOU, with the unhealthy fixation on things Zardoz, monkey, and large posting numbers....

....YOU, who started a thread about absolutely nothing....that later became the longest running thread on APS....

....YOU, with the tendency to annoy every moderator on APS--even more that I do....

....YOU, who are single-handedly at fault for everything that ever has happened, is happening, and will happen in the future....

....YOU, who participated in a devious plot with other APS members to kill me last year with one of the most humorous posts (which I can't remember, thanks to the multiple MRI's) on APS.....

YOU have no standing to question my patriotism!  YOU have a lot to answer for in your own right. And I hope that some day, if there is any justice on the Internet, you will be brought to answer for your many trespasses and be shackled with the most embarassing, unmanly, un-TACTICAL avatar that can be found on 4chan.......

What say YOU?.....

As for your original question......no comment.

Seeker_two's response was so darned funny, I had to insert it into the thread and re-open it.

He's pretty much got Fistful figured out, too.   =D

(He does indeed annoy staff here to no end, and we wonder if he doesn't in fact take delight in doing so...)

GW98, at the risk of incurring your wrath and a swing of the mighty APS Banschwerk, MTP's post was obviously an attempt at humor.  Did it not come across that way to you?  It was kind of strange, but so is MTP.

FWIW, I suspect Laurent du Var laughed his fanny off when he read it.

My funny bone's intact.

It's why I re-opened the thread, especially after reading Seeker_two's hilarious response.

In the interest of comic relief here at APS, I realized that Fistful shouldn't have a monopoly on dumb threads, either starting them or contributing to them.

It'll keep the thread closures down in Politics Place, as a side benefit.  ;)

Now why-ever would you think that?....

Personally, the fact that I got G98 to RE-OPEN a thread that he closed is a pretty monumental accomplishment....can I have all of fistful's post count as a reward?....

Now that I've stopped laughing and got my breath back, a small point:

MTP, was there a thread called "Your patriotism", hence "Re: Your patriotism", that I missed and that this is a reply to or did you mean "In re: Your patriotism"?

Just curious.  =D
