SWMBO was in tears the first time she saw them tossing it out, stuff sells for about $50 a small jar in Japan...
Does your SWMBO have a single sister?     That "yellow mush" on a Trisket with a slice of freah jalapaino is DIVINE!

Actually she does hava s ingle sis (quite hot I may add, my wife got the brains and the persoanlity, she got the looks), but I guess she is quite the bitch and furthermore, more devastating, her idea of fun starts with names like Gucci, Polo, etc etc....shes probably unaffordable....

Further, she probably wouldnt go out with anybody who uses the word "divine", altho Spiff would

Live jumpin fat and sassy Golden King Crab at the fish market tonight, $8.99 per pund. SWMO and me grabbed a nice juicy 8 pounder, brought her home (the crab was rustlin and bustlin in the truck trying to escape), got the crab pot out, tossed in some salt and crab boil, then pulled that sucker off the floor (where it was walkin around) and intio the pot...

Heaven boys and girls, heaven, we gobbled it all (including the innards which SWMBO devoured with great relish, having figured out that unless we cook it at home, the fish market is gonna toss out the best part)...

Ah the glories of livin in Alaska

Ahhh, crab! I remember the good 'ole days (last year) when you could take a crab ring down to the bay, chuck it in, and catch all the crab you wanted (as long as it wasn't more than a dozen).

Now this stupid state says that you have to have a "Shell Fish License" in order to catch the dumb things. Plus, you've got to pay six bucks to boot. Stupid legislators!

>>"This year is the 16th anniversary of Free Fishing Weekend in Oregon. Fishing and shellfish licenses and tags are not required to fish, clam or crab in Oregon June 12-13, but anglers and shellfish harvesters must follow all regulations for species and daily catch limits."<<

Whoopee!! Two free days of fishing and crabin'. I'd better stock up! rolleyes

It always weirds me out when I see people do this. This was always the part that I throw away. In fact in my houshold we defined this as "cleaning" the crab, implying that the yellow mush is in fact garbage. I used to work in a grocery store and the guy who worked in the seafood department just loved scooping it out and eating it in front us white people cause it always grossed us out.

Yum!  When I was a younger lad living in Florida, we used to go out at night with a flashlight and catch a cooler load of blues.  All I paid for was the cheap beer. I'm not an innard slurper either.

Jealousy smiley here.

Although I truly enjoy the Atlantic Blue crabs we have in the Chesapeake, I've got to admit that the King, Snow and Dungeness crabs y'all have in the Pacific NW can't be beat.

Bon apetite! Cheesy

I like dungeness better than king.  But, I like king salmon better than silver.

I love living on the upper west coast!

Had fresh Dungeness crab last weekend. Went crabbing with a couple of friends from work down at Waldport, OR.  We managed to catch six nice males, well over minimum size.  Boiled them all in the boat launch parking lot, scarfed'em on the spot.  Tasty...

We had to paw through several hundred female crabs just to get the half dozen legal males.  It's a good time to be a male crab on the Oregon coast.
If there really was intelligent life on other planets, we'd be sending them foreign aid.

Conservatives see George Orwell's "1984" as a cautionary tale.  Progressives view it as a "how to" manual.

My wife often says to me, "You are evil and must be destroyed." She may be right.

Liberals believe one should never let reason, logic and facts get in the way of a good emotional argument.

This thread makes me hungry and answers a question I've had for a very long time.  I've only ever seen king crab legs for sale ($18.99/lb last time I had them) and wondered if people ate the bodies.

Hey Wild,

Haven't talked to you online since I got booted from TFL.  grin

Went to an all-you-can-eat crab feed at the Elks out in Eagle River last weekend. $20 bucks and I got through probably 5-6 pounds.

I've got another 4 lbs. of the $8.99 King legs in the freezer right now.

Life is good.  laugh

edited to add, just checked the dates, this un' is ooooold

Feel free to hate me if you must, crab-not-havers  grin

You wouldn't believe the stuff I found the Japanese eating when I did my tours of Japan and Okinawa. The PI wasn't much better.  Hopefully, they'll keep the worst of 'em off of Iron Chef.

Having said that, I look forward to watching every episode of Deadliest Catch, because I love to go to my favorite Chinese Buffet and load up on crab legs (Opilio/Snow Crab?).

I'm waiting for the little Chinese hostess to come to me one of these days and say, "You go home now!  No more food!  You no come back!"  grin

Why would anybody disturb their rest and dig them up?
