What a weta!

"What's up, doc?" in a tinny mechanical voice?

Thank $diety it's confined to a small island off New Zealand.

Firehand at http://elmtreeforge.blogspot.com/2013/08/how-often-do-you-see-bug.html asks if .22LR would be enough.  Based on several sci-fi films I watched as a youngster I'd say lifting off and nuking it from orbit may not be sufficient.

stay safe.
If cowardly and dishonorable men sometimes shoot unarmed men with army pistols or guns, the evil must be prevented by the penitentiary and gallows, and not by a general deprivation of a constitutional privilege.

Hey you kids!! Get off my lawn!!!

They keep making this eternal vigilance thing harder and harder.  Protecting the 2nd amendment is like playing PACMAN - there's no pause button so you can go to the bathroom.

I think it would be cool to see one, since they have almost been driven to extinction by activities of man.

I see Mark's story is making the rounds again, last time when this was "printed",
He got a call from the game commissioners asking about the facts presented in the tale.

HINT

its mostly all a trolling UK Telegraph lie to garner more web hits.

I keep telling Mark we need a captive breeding program where we can raise them for size and disposition

All I want to know if is the picture is real and if the perspective is as it seems. Everything else is secondary

Interesting, what is inaccurate about the story?

easier to tell the accurate part

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Barrier_Island_giant_weta

Mark is a photographer and naturalist, not a former game warden
He's from New York, the picture was from 1991.
