I just read about this incident. Any unreported skinny from within the ranks?

Did this person have a stroke or something, or just drunk?
-
That was my first question medical issue or self medicated.
Since the person has resigned I'm leaning toward the latter.

You don’t want to know.... :O

I do.
Was she using some of your supplements?

I didn't before. Now I do!

I am just surprised that the tower at McCarran would drop to just one controller. Well, they don't anymore. ;)

All I can tell you is rumor. Rumor is she has had at least 1 DUI
And this was a mix of booze and drugs she supposedly OD’d.

A few years back, the tower at Paine Field went silent in the early morning hours. The airport fire department had to enter the tower to check it out and fortunately the controller was just asleep.

I would love to see her drug test results. I wonder if some of that now state legal cannabis would be present? ;)

I'm fairly certain you can OD on any drug. Now you might be correct that you can't smoke enough to OD (this link suggests is far less likely, but still possible), but: https://www.drug-overdose.com/marijuana.htm

It is what we like to call poly-substance abuse in the medical field. More than one substance in the system at one time.

It's good to know that our dedicated air controllers always follow the rules regarding impairment.
As Shelley Berman said in his monologue back in the 60's, "Flying is the safest way to fly."

10% rule. 10% of any group of similar people, such as controllers, pilots, doctors, lawyers, IT nerds, etc., will cause 90% of the problems. My industry and my airline have plenty of instances where a pilot or flight attendant showed up to work drunk or high. Stupid people do stupid things regardless of their education level or success in life.
