Say what?

You sold one, or you're sold on them?

What's one of these units go for again?

How is their response time compared to a regular scroll or piston compressor unit?

~ $13,000 each plus sales tax to me.

I'm not sure what you mean by response time. How long do they take t warm up from a dead start? Not sure. I would think there shouldn't be too much of a difference. The thing operates itself on demand. Comparing the ODT to the system water temp delta T and turning itself on and off to keep a steady flow of BTUs going. Lag should not be an issue. Of course only time will tell.

By response time I mean how long does it take for the system to begin delivering air cooled to the system's operating max. Not a good description, I know.

For example, though, my Trane XL1200 will start kicking out cooled air within a minute of it turning on.

My only experience with absorption systems is the old gas refrigerators. They always seemed to take about half again as long to come to operating temperature as a traditional compressor unit.

They won't take all of it.  They'll leave enough for beer and football so he doesn't become restless. Tongue

Yea, that's about the way I feel. Sad

These jobbers provide chilled water / hot water and do so on kind of a reserve type basis. There is always hot or cold water (depending on the season) available instantaneously when needed. So a zone should receive the correct temp water in the time it takes the water to get to that zone. probably a minute or so tops.

We just happened to have a quick chat about heat absorption earlier today.  (I'm taking HVACR in a local Tech.)
GREAT idea.
Sunlight moves the refrigerant around instead of a compressor...

Sunday it felt a little better, but it was quite irritated from me rubbing it.

Sounds interesting.  Not too long ago I read up on geothermal heat pumps, love the idea of ~300% efficiency.

The air source GA heatpump is not as efficient as ground source or "geothermal" but it is a fairly close runner up and requires no wells or tube fields. We managed to underbid a geo system by ~ $20,000 from what I'm hearing.
