Comments mention only two people being injured, probably from the bridge and from hurting themselves when it went off. Looks like maybe the SM-2 wasn't released and cooked off in the canister causing an explosion?
Edit - Actually looking at the aftermath pictures, looks like the cell door didn't open up all the way.
-
That seems to have left a mark.
I'm wondering if the door may have blown back partially closed from the force of the explosion? I'd think that had the thing gone off completely in the launch tube that the surrounding tubes would have shown a lot more damage. Just a guess, though. I know those things are specifically hardened to prevent a chain fire/explosion in events exactly like this.

Open the
pod missile bay doors HAL

At least there was no boom. That would be double plus ungood.

There's the problem. They didn't say "please" when they asked HAL to open the missile bay doors.

[tinfoil] I always thought that Germans were supposed to be good at engineering stuff.
Guess not. :-X

Probably a Turk at the controls.

So the Germans' reputation for quality engineering remains intact! =D

And rides smoothly on the interleaved road wheels on their tanks that performed so well in Russia's winters...
And let's not forget the start of German's history with tank design...

Combat weight... 120 tons. That would have done very well in the mud...

Probably a Turk at the controls.
Turks are usually at the receiving end of missile misfires.

Yeah, but you'd think there would be a little more shielding between the tubes and the bridge windows just in case of something like this.

(Shoulda brought up the Hindenburg somehow, I guess... :-X)

The bridge windows didn't even lose their glass. Why would you add more shielding?

I suspect the bridge needs a bunch of new windshield wiper blades, though.

McLane: Is the building on fire?
Powell: No, but it's going to need a couple of cans of spackle and a ****load of screen doors.

Looks like all the propellant burned on launch.
