I'm in California.

Take a guess.

I havn't bought anything in years.

Actually, I've only actually bought 2 guns ever myself. The rest of my personal guns are ones dad bought for me (several before I even hit 18) and stuff I, uhhh, appropriated =D

Now, Dad, who's been doing the gun thing hardcore for over 30, rarely goes a year without buying a gun. And most of the gunless years were during the 94 crime bill. He's already got one for 2014, doing his normal sell two cheaper, buy one expensive deals.

Right now, he's got several things he could liquidate if something comes along that he HAS TOO HAVE!!11! But I don't think anything will come along that will fever his brain enough to sell anything important (like the HK 91 for the PS-90. I'm still banging my head on a wall over that)

Since I was about 15... I'm not sure I've gone a full year without buying something.

Since I joined the NRA as a lifer last year, I have slowed down some; but with the general direction of the country, buying arms and munitions seems prudent.

If we're counting trades, but discounting guns given as gifts:

I've owned eight guns in 37 years. You do the math.

Then change your habits.  1000rds of 9mm is just good preparedness.  When you're flush with ammo, go train.  When you get down to 200rds or so, start saving your pennies for the next order.  Buying ammo at retail stores is for suckers.

The last two years has made me glad I shoot more than one caliber, though.  I did shift to .45 for awhile and while it was more expensive, at least I could buy it.

I mostly don't have to care what store bought ammo costs.

Circumstances prevented me from purchasing any guns between the ages of 0 and 24. Between the ages of 24 and 26 I've bought six guns, and I have a wishlist which is still a mile long. Gotta make up for lost time.

Once I got to the point I couldn't remember how many boomsticks were in the various safes, then I pretty much stopped collecting.

Now my rule is, if I want something new and shiny, I'll figure out which one of the safe queens to offload first.

Many years since I first got into guns that I haven't bought any.  Some years I bought 2 or 3.  I haven't bought a gun in 3 years now.  Have been given a few, sold one in that time.
