Title: What is your public radio name?
Post by: roo_ster on June 05, 2012, 03:22:43 PM

You, too, can have one of those wonderfully diverse & hyphenated public radio names.

FTR, roo_ster, in public-radio-ese is Bonifacio Biallystock-Northam.

You'd best remember the hyphen, or I'll slap you with a discrimination suit faster than you can say, "pseudo-sophisticate jazz bumper music."

If I use my shortened name it is - Fahd Ali-Saarinen
If I use my given name it is - Augusto Ludden-Ricci

Put your name into it again.

And then again.

Since "lee" is gender ambiguous, I get "Kwame Baum-James" (male) and "Eloise Kato-Flatow" (female).  And vigorously protest that there're aren't more categories.

Try them both again...

Put your name into it again.

And then again.

Ciaran Masri-Imani
Isam Womack-Boilen
Tyrone Chu-Kowalski1
Huang Cox-Petrovic2
Dharma Kozlowski-Abbasi
Fahd Neighmond-Petit

I'm mulling over 1 and 2.  Input accepted if accompanied by crisp, unmarked banknote from anywhere but Zimbabwe.

stay safe.

Uh, guys, it doesn't care what your name is.  Leaving it blank and hitting the button works fine.

Ogwambi Abbadi-Van der Meer

I'm getting that on a business card.

I love it.  NPR is the only talk radio I get in my area, so despite some snort-worthy commentary I listen to it all the time.

In CT we have Lucy Nalpathantial (best guess) who sounds exactly like "Asian reporter Trisha Takanawa" from Family Guy.  So much so I have to wonder if Alex Borstein is doing an impression of her.

Ayotunde Pahlavi-Sri

Would prefer "Rock Steeltimber" for my radio name.

Or maybe "Dr. Reichardt Eisenfaust-Hochenberg."

Add PhD, MD, LlD, "Sir," as appropriate.

The program is an amusing mockery of the occasionally high pretenterationness of the public radio format.
