  • I'm sorry, Dave. I'm afraid I can't do that.
Politicians and bureaucrats are considered productive if they swarm the populace like a plague of locust, devouring all substance in their path and leaving a swath of destruction like a firestorm. The technical term is "bipartisanship".

OPFOR weapons?

Or is the .MIL feeling the 5.56 price crunch like the rest of us, and switching to 5.45 Spam cans?
I promise not to duck.

Was there a news article in between all those ads?  Jeez.

I'm guessing they were used for Soviet weapons familiarization courses.

Ft. Irwin is the home of the National Training Center.  There the 11th ACR acts as the OPFOR (Opposing Force) so in addition to their regular US issue equipment that they have to be proficient on, they also have real "Soviet" vehicles and equipment to provide realistic training for units (normally Brigade/Regiment sized) to "fight" against.   So yeah, they would have a buttload of Soviet stuff there.

Some days even my lucky rocketship underpants won't help.

Bring me my Broadsword and a clear understanding.
Get up to the roundhouse on the cliff-top standing.
Take women and children and bed them down.
Bless with a hard heart those that stand with me.
Bless the women and children who firm our hands.
Put our backs to the north wind.
Hold fast by the river.
Sweet memories to drive us on,
for the motherland.
